Shaking problem of 2001 Ford Escort Sign In

I bought a 2001 Ford Escort about two months ago. In the first month, this car operated smoothly. But at the end of the first month, the service-engin light was on. At that time I thought it was a minor problem. So I did not pay much attention to it. But in the sencond day after the service-engin light was on, I was driving on a upward slop on a highway. The car slowed dwon becasue of the gravity, so I stepped heavily on the gas pedal. Suddenly the car began shaking forwad and backward. It was like ridding on a horse. After about 5-8 seconds, shaking disappeared. This kind of problem happened many times when i was driving on a upward slop on a highway. However when I was driving on a local road, everything was as good as before.

After some time I wento to Autozone, having a freen service-engin light check. It said that the fuel system for bank 1 is too lean. I do not understand this sentence. One of my friends searched online and told me that the fuel injector for bank 1 did not work.

I get confused now. Please help me! Is the shaking problem related to the service-engin light? What's the reason for the shaking problem? What should i do?

i work for autozone and bank 1 stands for oxygen sensor before the cat converter. the oxygen sensor is saying that the system is running too lean. try replacing the oxygen sensor closest to the engine. also check your fuel filter and ignition control module (located at the gathering of spark plug wires)the coil pack and ignition control module are one unit. as you are going uphill you are putting a heavier demand on your engine, but on a straightaway there is less of a demand. another test that can be done is check the color on the bottom of your spark plugs to see if excess carbon has built up, a good plug should be a light rust color. a dirty or heavily carboned plug will be black and crusty.
