Seat Belt Not Retracting Sign In

2006 Toyota Camry with low mileage. The driver's side seat is not retracting and when a mechanic quickly looked at it told me I may need a new mechanism which could cost about $400.

I would prefer to try to fix the problem myself. All suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Karen

My suggestion is to bring it back to the shop and let them positively diagnose it, not just a "drive by" diagnosis.

Thanks for your response.

I just happened to be driving by the place where I will have my oil changed next week. I would prefer to try to fix it if possible.

If you feel you're capable, go for it.

Re: Seat Belt Not Retracting Sign In

Most shops I know won't service selt belt retractors unless the belt is twisted up. The only time I've service one was for a recall. Too much liability to be taking them apart.
