Santa Fe 2005 motor stop on the road - Electrical problem Sign In

Hi ,

I had an issue a few weeks ago with my Santa Fe . The truck did not start . The starter was turning but nothing else.

I found that when this was happening , there was no light on the Dash also but fan was working.

When waiting a few minutes , I was able to start the engine (lights were lit on the dash).

So I have an electrical problem.

The bad part is now , it happened on the road.

When driving , suddenly truck stops and no lights on the dash again.

Can it be

  • The ignition contact ?
  • PCM
  • Bad ground
  • ?

Why the fan still working when this is happening ?

Tks

Start with the basics. Get your battery tested and make sure the connections are shiny clean. A poor contact can give you all sorts of little monsters. Follow the cables down from your battery and see where they bolt in. Unbolt them and clean all surfaces so they are shiny as well.

Have the computer scanned for any codes before you unhook the battery. Post any that you find. We need the exact code numbers, not a generic description. Most parts stores will scan it for you or rent you a scan tool to do this.
