SRS warning light on Honda Sign In

2001 Honda Accord SRS dash warning light come on today and stays on.
This Honda is not included in the airbag defect recall.
The airbag has never been deployed and the car has never had any external damage.
It has the 2.3 L engine and has 44,000 miles.
Any help would be appreciated.

you should take it to autozone and have the code red. that will help determine what it is mabey a relay is bad or a fuse or a wire has been disconnected with the airbag system.

AutoZone won't be able to read airbag codes. That will require the uses of a professional scan tool. There are a number of things that can go wrong in that system and using as scanner is the only way to find out what's happening.

Hammer Time
I appreciate your reply to my post.
Would you know if I don't do anything about the SRS will the only problem be is that the air bag/bags would not deploy in a crash or could it cause other problems?
The Honda dealer service man told me it would cost $74.00 just to scan the system
plus the cost of repair.
I am 76 years old and have been driving cars for over 60 years without air bags so I
am not too concerned if they work or not plus $ 74.00 is a week and a half worth of
groceries for me.
Thank you for any advice you may have for me.

Jerry. The light indicates that the SRS system is inoperative due to some kind of system fault. the same is true about an ABS light. With no repair action taken, the airbags will not deploy in an accident. If that doesn't matter to you much, then enjoy your car and put a piece of electrical tape over the warning light.

Just remember...............

Just because you haven't needed an airbag to save your life in the past doesn't mean it won't save your life in the future. They are put there because they save lives. If your life's not worth $74, do as you wish.
