Search Auto Parts Search SIMPLE PROBLEM: Brakes are dragging on my 1997 Mustang Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Car Troubleshooting asilentfire New User May 6, 2012, 6:40 PM Post #1 of 3 (2047 views) SIMPLE PROBLEM: Brakes are dragging on my 1997 Mustang Sign In When I'm driving the car I can hear metal rubbing, so I checked the back-right brake and the outside of the rotor is covered in rust so it can't be dragging on that side, but the inside of the rotor is smooth and covered in metal-dust, so it must be dragging on that side. The caliper is touching the backside of the rotor, and might have 1 millimeter of wiggle room from the front.. Would pushing the caliper back .5 mm center it and stop it from rubbing or does the caliper need to be opened wider? I don't really know anything about cars, but it seems semi-straitforward. I just got this car and I have only drove around 500 miles on it so far, and I don't know how long this has been going on. Thanks in advance! I don't know exactly what the different parts are called, maybe I can take a picture..
