Ok, when the van runs it overheats! When you drive it, it overheats...if you park it and let it run, it overheats! only doesn't overheat when you park it on a steep incline facing uphill (makes no sense I know!). when it starts to overheat you can get it to cool down by either parking it on an incline facing up or putting it in neutral and revving it for a few seconds at 5000 rpm. We replaced the radiator, replaced the thermostat, replaced the radiator cap, water pump was replaced about 6 to 9 mnths ago, we have driven it without the tstat and same problem. We have tried to bleed the air out from the bleeder valve and we have tried "burping" it...we have also tried to bypass the heater core and same problem. Also neither the front or the rear heater blow hot unless you park uphill and then only the rear heater blows hot. About to check the water pump cause we figure thats all that's left (even though its less than a year old!) nothing is leaking & we did compression test...pls help??

Sorry I was wrong, the heater only blows hot (and only the rear heater) when parked facing downhill not uphill...and additional info, the fan is working fine and also every once in awhile the upper hose collapses (which makes me think the water pump is fine! ugh!)

Sorry about that, yes totally retarded not to list what kind of car...it was midnight and I was beyond frustrated! Anyway its a 94 Nissan quest, 3.0 l with about 194k miles

You will have to run some chemical and pressure tests to determine if it has a blown head gasket.

We did 2 compression tests and it was 170 across the board both times, wouldn't that mean the head is fine?

More test than just that. chemical is testing cooling system for combustion gasses. If consuming coolant or low that will cause both overheating and heater(s) to be inoperative or intermittent. Note that boiling coolant doesn't transfer heat worth a damn - takes hot liquid.
From cold carefully feel the upper radiator hose. Squeeze cold noting no pressure. Start engine and it should stay cold till t-stat opens. If you notice pressure by just squeezing hose right away that's trouble. New or not that could be bad on the list of things.
When/if top hose feels warm it's sending heat to radiator and at some point fan(s) should kick on If they never do that's a problem and still may not be the end of it and boiling as said rapidly wont cool off even if components are OK.
When you did compression test did any plugs look different than the others?
Test away and let us know if this is consuming coolant or if it has a radiator cap on radiator (some don't) check when there's no pressure or cold that it's full to the top,

Just thought id let u guys know, it ended up being the...drum roll please...water pump! After being replaced just 7 months ago the METAL impeller had completely worn down and was damn near gone! That will do it! Thanks guys

That system needs to be check for electrolysis in the cooling system, anything over .4v is too high and can cause problems just like what you are seeing, metal being eroded at a high rate.
Also grounds and missing/broken ground straps need to be check, this can cause the same problems.
I know there are some cheap pumps out there but no way should an impeller disappear in 7 months....If you don't get a handle on it this now, you could be going down the same road in the next few months or worse, next up may be a heater core.....
