Hi all, I have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata with a 2.0 turbo engine and just under 60,000 miles. Recently, I began noticing that at higher speeds (60+ mph), the whole car would periodically shake rather violently. I took it to the dealership, where they informed me that I have: 1) three bent wheels 2) both CV joints loose 3) right inner tie rod wear/damage 4) something wrong with a "coupler" that I did not fully understand Two questions: First, other than the occasional pothole, I haven't had any collisions with this vehicle. For a 60K mileage car, is this normal?? Second, the total cost for the repairs was quoted at $3,200 – which blew me away. Does that seem right given the problems listed? It is admittedly way more damage than I could've imagined. Any thoughts greatly appreciated – thank you!

Yikes - that's a lot of stuff for a 60K car if not abused IMO. You can feel a shake for a lot of reason - plain tires even balanced can have soft spots, odd treadwear - just one and feels like the car is falling apart. 3 bent rims? !! Are these alloys wheels or steel w wheel covers? I just can't imagine these are cheap new if alloys and if really bent for any time they've worn tires that you probably won't fix with rotating tricks. For now that's enough stuff - price may be right if really in need of all that but would seek a second opinion probably best from an independent and nicer if a tech will show you so you are convinced. Possible but needs quite a bit IMO as said for the miles, T

X2 get a second opinion... prioritize the issues - at least find out what "coupler" is. the wheels - balance, replace with other than OEM, used, CV joints and tie rod - loose meaning NOT new, normal wear or failure likely.

Thanks, guys. I had to get the info over the phone as I dropped the car off on my way out of town (long story), so I'll get more details re the coupler, etc. when back tomorrow. But I'll definitely look for a second opinion!
