Ive adjusted it back off several times but it keeps tightening back up. Any chance this has two right side adjusters? Not sure what this drum brake uses for self adjustment but somehow I think it's back ass-wards. If this car is exposed to tons of backing up that might be the problem if hard stops in reverse. Check owner's manual, some of these are adjusted by playing with parking brake? The shoe has to have a specific amount of travel in order for the adjuster to grab a notch. Take a hard look at the show in comparison to side without an issue and see if something is amiss. The wheel cylinder itself might not be allowing the shoe/shoes back to "home" position. Check that they under the return springs really do fully return on their own.
