This issue is old but I have had a similar problem with my 98 GTP. Bought the new fuel pump resistor but never installed it. Problem turned out to be Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. The IAC problem was similar to what some experience with a bad fuel pump resistor which was the engine stalling when allowing RPMs to return to idle. Car would start fine but if no throttle was applied, engine RPMs would drop and the engine would stop. I also experienced some trouble with starting but the major pain was the stalling as the IAC would sometimes malfunction during driving and I had to get home with one foot on the brake and one on the gas to keep the RPMs up. Other than the hard starting and stalling, my IAC problem exhibited no other behaviors.

You posted this to a year old thread and I didn't read it carefully and thought you had a new problem so I started a new thread with it but now I see you were just commenting on the old thread. Please don't post to anything that old.
