Pulsation in brake petal Sign In

I have a 2003 Ford Focus Wagon with 88000 miles I was told that pulsation in the brake petal is usually a problem in the back wheels. If I was getting a shimmy in the steering wheel when the brakes are applied that would mean that the problem is in the front. I am getting pulsation in the brake petal, no shimmy in the steering wheel. How true is this? Thanks.

Does this have drum brakes in the rear? You can lightly engage the parking brake to see if the vibration is coming from the rear on drum brake applications.

Yes it does have brake drums in the rear. If I lightly engage the parking brake should I drive the car and try the brakes with the parking brake engaged.

When you are coming to a stop and feeling the vibration let up on the brake pedal and lightly engage the emergency brake while holding the release at the same time. If the vibration is coming from the rear brakes, you should feel it in the handle.
