Primera: problems starting when wram Sign In

I have had a W reg Nissan Primera 1.8 petrol for a month- it only has 30,000 miles and has been fully serviced by a Nissan dealer since new, but I have a strange problem.

It starts every time if the engine is cold i.e. mornings and after work, but struggles when I have driven it and stopped for a couple of minutes and then try to re-start it. I get a click and a very faint consistent noise, like a humming (no movement from the engine at all). The dashboard lights come on and the battery is only 6 months old (have checked the connectors).

Any ideas what causes it to do this only when the engine is warm? Thanks!

It would take a little more checking but it sounds like it may be a bad starter. Check all your cable connections first.

Thanks for the reply. Starter motor I presume. Why would it only do it when warm?

It's not uncommon for a starter to fail when warm. It still needs to be checked when the problem is present.
