Sign In 2002 Ford Ranger 157,000 miles 4.0ltr V6 Auto Trans 4wd just doing some maintenance....heater hoses, thermostate belt etc. while i was checking the pulleys for any noise or sign of wear, i found the power steering pulley has about 1/16 of an inch of fore/aft movement in it. the pulley is quiet and smooth other wise. Sign In You should be OK. To check, go to local parts house and ask to look at one. Pull and push on the shaft. There is some movement, but I have never measured it.
