Pontiac sunbird 2.0 overheating

Well recently my car has been overheating and last week it jumped timing and the water pump was messed up so we replaced both and a termastat. then me and my dad noticed that we lost alot power. and we thought it blew the head gasket so we replaced that the past 2 days but its still over heating and we can not think what else it cud be. there is no oil in the water or water in the oil. and when it get hot it pushes the water into the raditor and then pushes it in the over flow. we also have flsuhed the raditor and the fan is also working.
any help wud help out alot thanks

what made you think you blew a head gasket? did you do a compression and/or a leakdown test?

When it skipped timing we lost ALOT of power. i cud barely get it to 65 with the gas to the floor. and funny thing is we didnt see where it blew the gasket looked fine. but after we replaced it we have the power back but its still over heating.

tjay; Recheck your timing marks. It is very easy to be off a tooth which will cause a loss of power. Thermostats can be installed backwards in many vehicles. Make sure it's in the correct way. For testing purposes, you can run the engine with the thermostat removed and see if it still overheats. Be sure to put it back in when done.

I fixed the power problem but still having the heating problem. and there is only one way to put mine in. and it heats with it in and with it out.

tjay; Might be time to have the cooling system checked for exhaust gasses and the radiator flow tested. (assuming the cooling fan(s) is working).

Most parts store sell a chemical called "Block Check" and the tool to use it, but it's rather expensive for a one-time use. Any shop that does emission repairs will have a gas analyzer that can 'sniff' the cooling system to check for the presence of hydrocarbons.
