Please read my plugs Sign In

Hello all.
This is related to my motorcycle, but I guess an engine is an engine at the end of the day.
My BMW K1100RS just had to have a replacment engine, due to cylinder 2 going into meltdown and destroying the exhaust valves.
This is turn damaged the bore, which meant end of that engine.
I got another one bolted up, and my mechanic told me that when he unbolted the exhaust down pipes, the one from cylinder two just dropped out onto the floor.
This is likely to be the cause of the catastrophe.
Anyway, after a couple of hundred miles on the replacement engine, I decided to have a look at the plugs, and am posting photo's here in the hope that an expert or two might be able to offer up an opinion as to how my engine is running.
Thanks for any help.

If you are just asking for an opinion on how plugs look
they look normal to me suggesting this engine is running
properly. If so put them back and forget it for now,

Looks like it's burning a little lean to me.

How does it run?

From what I've read this bike is fuel injected, so plugs might look a little leaner than something with a carb that is running normal. Not sure if this bike uses an O2 sensor for feedback fuel control. If it does, the computer may have diagnosic capabilities like a modern car. You could check for codes and look at O2 data if that is possible.

The bike is running great.
No issues at all.
Smooth progressive drive with no hiccups, popping or hesitation.
I don't know about the tech stuff you asked about, but I'll have a word with the BMW dealer about it.
I do know that my bike is one of the first mass produced injected motorcycles.
Thank all for your input/

If it does have diagnostic capabilites and you can look at engine data, that would tell you a lot about how the fuel system is doing. Let us know what your BMW tech thinks.

Re: Please read my plugs Sign In

IDK - It runs fine and only 200ish miles since done this still looks good to me and think that's what you'll hear if you bring it back.

The "reading plug thing" is real info but it really isn't enough miles without a complaint IMO to mess with it for what I see.

If ONE of them was different from the others then I'd be concerned or check again in a bunch more miles,
