My husband and I have 2000 Dodge Stratus w/ the 2.5L V6 in it. We are having a serious issue with it... here is what is going on. Sometimes the car will not start, it acts like it wants to turn over or it will turn over and it chugs a lot then dies, if it starts at all. It usually will start/run after a few tries (if it has been sitting for a couple hours). When we slow down, stop, or go into gear it will chug and a lot of the time die. My husband can power break it while we are stopped to keep it running. Our mechanic doesn't feel it is out of time because there is no ticking in the engine. And the engine is running "too smooth". We do have a major anti-freeze leak we are fixing Monday, but we were reading online it could be our crankshaft sensor? Please help we have put so much money into trying to fix this issue, and it is our only vehicle, any advice is welcomed!

I would test the fuel pressure during the failure before I tried anything else. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

We just put in a new fuel filter and pump last month, that was the first thing we did when the issue started.

Never assume anything is good just because it was changed recently. That's the beast way to run yourself in circles for days. Nothing is eliminated until it passes testing.
