Peugeot 206 (year 2000) running roughly after start up Sign In

Hello, I hope you are all well?

I am looking for a little guidance re my Peugeot 206, 1.4 LX, (year 2000). The car will start up first time, every time. However a regular problem has started to occur, after around 400 yards (every time) the car will start to lose power and kangaroo before kicking back into life. The car does not stall, there is just a distinct lack of power for around 5 - 10 seconds. After pressing the clutch and revving the engine the power comes back and the car seems to run fine. The engine light does not come on during this point. The same issues also happens if I leave the car standing from start up with the engine running, it takes around 4 mins to kick in but the problems occurs. It seems to tie in with the automatic choke turning off and the engine revs dropping (when idle) from just under a 1000 to just below 800. Just as the temp gauge on the dashboard kicks into life.

I ran a few tests the other day where I would just stop the car, turn off the engine and leave the car sat for a few minutes. The car would start fine, pull away fine and then again after around 300 yards start to kangaroo, however, not as bad as when first started in the morning or from cold.

The fuel pump and filter were changed not long back and the car has newish spark plugs. I have ordered a replacement 2nd hand Coil Pack to see if this may be the problem, but this has not arrived yet.

I managed to get the ECU read by a gent who has Peugeot Planet, the codes description which came up are as follows:-

- Inlet air thermistor function. Short-circuit to positive or circuit

- Throttle Potentiometer function

- Idle regulation Stepper Motor control Function

To date I have changed the following
Spark plugs
Coil pack
Air temp sensor
Map sensor
Fuel filter
Air filters
Throttle idle valve
Ecu fluid temp sensor

I will replace the throttle position sensor when it arrives

Hopefully you may be able to help me cure this problem as it is now starting to get beyond a joke.

Thanks in advance.

Andy

This car not sold in the US where most techs are. Does this even have a carb and choke? Bet not.

Used parts can send you in circles along with random tossing of parts is both expensive and may cause more issues.

You had codes read and haven't followed what they suggest yet as areas to check out. A throttle position sensor (TPS) or throttle body IAC could be erratic and be cleaned.

When taking out plugs for new did they all look about the same or is that info lost? Would be nice to know if you can if it is picking on one cylinder or a random cylinder issue at least,

T
