PLease help with an accident reapir problem Sign In

I was recently in a very minor fender bender with a 1998 Honda civic. her rear bumper had a quarter size piece of paint chipped off with no dent in it.

I was an idiot and didn't take a picture...

She is saying it's over $400

What would be an estimate for a repair or this type of accident or even to replace the whole rear bumper?

Plz help, Thanks

$400.00 is nothing when it comes to paint and body work. Yes, you should have taken a picture, but sounds very cheap. I'd recommend that you don't turn it into your insurance. Cheaper in the long run to just pay it. JMO.

OK thanks for the response and yes i wasn't planning on sending it through insurance but then how much would a bumper replacement be on a car like that?

idk it's just hard to believe that some chipped paint could be worth like 1/10 of the car's total value

Hey friend - sounds like YOU hit her! There's just a facade over the structure of the bumper you see. That could cost tons more if someone wanted to really go after you for damages unseen!

Insurance varies place by place. Here - damage under $500 will be paid by your insurance to the other party if you are at fault with no impact to your rates IF YOU DON'T HAVE A RECORD of troubles like this. That's barely enough or not enough for some plastic lenses so be happy,
