2010 Nissan Versa 1.8L DOHC 133000 Miles It looked like my oil was low so I added a quart to top it up. When i checked the dipstick the oil looked fine. I used 5w-30 synthetic blend which was the same oil that was in the engine already. After driving for about 15 minutes the check engine light came on. I drove for another 5 minutes as I was on my way home. The car sat overnight and I went to check on it in the morning, I noticed the dipstick read very high. I also noticed some oil on the bottom of the car. I siphoned out the gas and then got an oil change down the street. After the oil change the light is still on. I got the code read and it is a P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold. I haven't noticed any difference in performance. Thank you for any advice!

That code has nothing to do with oil level or engine performance. It is telling you that the Catalytic Converter is not chemically doing what it was designed to. You likely need a new converter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
