Outside wear on front tires

So i have a 99 jetta 2.0 and just did a bunch of front end work balljoints tie rods ect. and its all straight but when going down a bumpy road it jerks the wheel around and now i noticed the front tire are bald on the out side(they were brand new) i need help i think maybe the tops of the struts is worn out (the mount peice) i just dont know if that would cause it please help me out asap!

What about the wheel alignment ? you did not mention having it done . (Outside wear is usally a sign of excessive toe in . Looking straight won't do in modern cars with tolerances as small as 1/10 degree.

worn/bad struts show "bands" across the width of the tread
