Ongoing starting problems, 2001 cobra Sign In

I am very frustrated. I have had my car to nothing
short of 9 shops, including 3 different ford garages
for diagnostics...no help at all. 3 years and counting.
The problem is that it sometimes does not fire up.
Sometimes. When I turn the ignition it doesn't catch,
for lack of a better term. Recently, I had the mass
air flow sensor replaced at a ford garage. 2 weeks later,
it started acting up again. I can get the car going if I
get on the gas immediately and put it in to gear, however
if it slips below 1000 rpms, the car shuts down. Sometimes
it will eventually begin to idle fine after about 3 minutes
of continuous driving. Some times it will never idle and
I go along restarting everytime I can't keep on the gas.
Other days it fires right up. It's more problematic after
it's been through wet weather.

Thank you for reading and any potential insight.

98000 miles. 4.6L 32 valve dohc.

Just a little more background...
There is no check engine light on.
Spark plugs, fuel system, maf all checked
out.
No codes have ever been pulled.

Thanks.

">> no codes have been pulled"<<

Is this to say not one shop has scanned this for even a code to say it's communicating? A light doesn't need to be on or stay on for codes to be in wait and something to say.

9 shops and no clue?

That's correct, Tom. I just got it back
from a ford dealer garage, as well.
I would say 60% of the time it starts up.
They probably cold started it once and
there were no problems. He said it generated
no codes and that the fuel system checked
out.

Gotta run so only have a second. You said wet aggravated this. Try spraying (I used window cleaner) or slightly salted water when coolish on connections and high voltage stuff to see if you can cause the issue when it's fine. Pure clean, distilled water won't work - it's needs to be contaminated and actually most drinking water isn't pure enough and rain certainly isn't. Something you can do that MIGHT surface the trouble spot. I say cool because spraying hot items could hurt them,
