My Firebird (1994 3.4 V6), Has been Dragging on the Start. It started A few months ago, but then was nothing to really worry about....Lately it has been getting far worse, and today, I went to turn the key....And it produced a single "Click-Click", then nothing....My lights?..Worked fine, my radio and windows worked ok too...

I disconnected and reconnected the Battery, and then it Dragged to a slow start...I know it's either the Battery, or the Starter....SO...

When I got home I popped out my brothers battery and put it in..and...It DRAGGED to a slow start....

I have enough time (One Day)..And just enough money to address this Problem TOMORROW...I don't want to address the wrong problem...I am thinking the starter, because the other battery produced the same result...I do HAVE to mention I replaced the head Gasket a while back..I THINK this problem was happening before hand...but I can't be sure...So..Possibly a loose Ground?..Or Possibly the Terminals are getting a poor connection and after I reconnected it it had enough "Umph"..To get it going?...What steps can I take to narrow down the Culprit before I buy a Battery for a starter problem or vice versa..Or EITHER for poor connection or loose ground?...

I realize...this is a noob question...and I'm sorry...Should I have advance do a Battery Load test?

The only way your going to know is to measure the current draw on the starter. Anything under 225 amps is good.

Advance Auto's Website said they do free Battery and Electrical System Checks...So I guess if I can just get the Car Cranked and up there..I can probably find out what the issue is
