OIL PRESSURE GAUGE

I gave a 2993 MONTE-CARLO SS. The oil pressure gauge has started to go to off scale low under normal driving conditions. I can turn ignition off and re-start car and the gauge operates nominally. What should I troubl shoot first?

Which year? I wonder what the Monte Carlo would look like in the year 2993.
