Nothing operates on '98 Jaguar passenger door Sign In

I just purchased a '98 Jaguar XJR. Everything works fine except for the passenger door. The power window does not work from either the door or the driver's control panel; the power door lock does not operate on just that door (from either manually locking/unlocking the driver's door with key or the inside power lock switch), however, if you manually operate the door lock knob from the passenger door it will lock and unlock all the other door locks; and the power mirror does not work on just that door. I have inspected all of the fuses (that I could figure our anyway since I have alway sonly owned American cars up to now). Any hints as to what I am missing? I am hoping to fix this problem myself since labor on a Jaguar is so expensive. Thanks

You need to see if you have power and ground working at the solenoid for the locks and the window motor. It also must have enough power to actuate it. One trick I use is to get a light bulb socket and light bulb for a taillight. It should have a pigtail you can add pins or spade ends on. Unplug the power window motor and hook your light bulb into the plug, then try working the switch in both directions. If the bulb lights up brightly when you hit the switch you know you have good power getting through and the command from the switch is occurring. The light bulb doesn't care about polarity so it works in both directions. Since both window and lock functions are missing from this door I would look into the black rubber accordian boot where the wires flex as you open and shut the door. Sometimes they wear from flexing and will only have a strand or two of the wire still intact if any.

I will give all that a try and let you know how it turns out. Thanks for all of your help.
