Sign In Hi all. I changed the pads on a friends 2011 camry 22k. (He drives aggressively with heavy braking). His rotors were a little bumpy but he told me he didn't want them replaced or cut. Now it's a week and a half later and he wants the rotors taken care of because he feels the vibration when braking. Sign In It's not ideal but that short a time shouldn't be a problem. Sign In yes now your pads will be worn abnormally to the rotor, uneven pad can create hot areas on the new/cut rotor and cause it to warp/create hot spots. take the pads off and get sand paper on a flat surface and sand them till they are flat.. preferably replace the pads since they are usally cheap. The reason why I didn't touch the rotors the first time around was because they didn't really look bad at all. They were a tad bumpy but barely and had no grooves. I was kind of suprised when he told me it was shaking so much. As for the pads, I put the most expensive ones (sans the dealer pads) that I could find locally 75$ ceramic brake pads. Sign In I have two of my own with ceramic pads with the claim of lasting a long time, quiet and make little dust. So far the higher price is the bargain on them. Brand chosen was Centric and unless a junker will pay for their rotors and pads again. FYI - rotors can look good and not be. Not crazy about turning them for most vehicles anymore as they are thin enough when new.
