Need help problem not sure of Sign In

2006 Ford Five Hundred Sel, 3.0L with 103140 miles V6 automatic

I was driving my car on the highway at 65 mph and shifted lanes and sped up to 74 mph and set cruise control. after a few mins my engine started to make a revv noise like it was in the wrong gear so i deactivated cruise control and my car slowwed down faster then normal would say 3 to 4 times faster, as i got off the highway it was hard to keep my cars speed above 35 mph, also at the same time my brakes became stiff barely touching them made my car stop very fast. i got to the gas station and popped the hood and turned my car off as i got out i smelt the smell of either burning rubber or hard plastic but the smell dissipated very fast. i could not see anything wrong under the hood everything's connected nothing missing no leaking fluids all fluid lvl good. i decided to drive to another gas station about 50 yards down the road and no matter how hard i pushed the gas it wouldn't break 35 mph but was very loud as though it couldn't shift gears. i pulled into a parking spot and with the car still running and my foot on the brakes that were still stiff i switched between all gears and after about the 3rd or 4th time i heard a small click, at this point the breaks loosened up to normal and my car runs fine can drive with no problem but the breaks now. now when i drive theres a 50 50 chance the break pedal goes all the way to the floor and still stops or it works normally or goes half way down, if i tapped the break pedal a couple of times it works fine.

I have no other problems now or smells coming from the car, the only issue remaining is y my break pedal does not work right and what could cause the issue i experienced on the highway.

Sounds like you might have a locked up caliper. Have it towed to a shop for inspection.
