My Honda Civic (1992) is making a loud clanking noise.

The car started making this strange sound all of a sudden. I don't really know much about cars anyway, can anyone tell me what might be wrong with it?
The sound is comparable to the sound that you might get if you threw a wrench into the mechanism. Its somewhat of a clanking sound, whatever that is. But I really need help on this because I am not able to diagnose this myself.
This wasn't a gradual thing it just began last night. It seems to be coming from the right side of the car. It happens as soon as the car is turned on, every time.

something in the accessory drive is about to go out. Hard to tell for certain without folling the noise in person with my own ears but seems like either the alternator or its idler pulley are the culprit. Get it to the shop and don't drive it until you do. If it fails on the road you will be stranded and have to be towed. Your audio quality and lighting were better than most vids we get here, so thank you for that.

Thank you, thats part of the advise i needed. This morning after turning it on and getting that noise again, we decided not to drive it. It started last night on the way home. Anyhow, now i know that I really should not be driving it!
Another question, would those kind of repairs be expensive at all?
And is there any information that I could supply someone on this forum that would make it easier to spot the problem? Or maybe another video?

Take the belts off and then start the engine to see if the noise goes away.
Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

An expensive repair would depend on your definition of expensive. Parts for this are pretty reasonably priced and its not hard to get at them as this is a pretty serviceable car by design. I don't think a vid would do much, the noise is loud and constant so any trained eye wouldn't take long to pinpoint it. If you're really lucky its a little idler pulley that costs $25 or something, but any one of the accessory drive is possible. Labor times won't be too high either. But it needs to be looked at in person by someone who knows what he's looking at to give you a good estimate of cost. Your car is in nice shape and these tend to run pretty much forever if taken care of. Up here in WI they only get scrapped because the bodies rust out so badly from the salt they are ready to break in half, but the motor still purrs like a kitten. I bought the exact same car a year ago for a kid who was just getting his license. He loves it and its been very trouble-free.
Your car is way cheaper overall to get repairs done both in parts cost and labor, and I don't think this one is going to break your bank.
