Hi
Can anyone please help me, I have a mercedes clk 270 cdi 53 plate, the wipers were working the other day, now the stalk will not work any setting for the wipers or the wash wipe, the indicators all work as does the headlight's and headlight flash, I have checked the 40 amp fuses, they all looked o.k. , but I changed them to be sure, nothing still works, they did not just stop, they parked themselves after an intermittent wipe and have not worked since, there is nothing to stop or jam up the wiper blades.

40 amps is way bigger than a wiper fuse. I'm guessing you were looking at the main fuses under the hood. Should be another fuse box with smaller fuses either under the hood or under the dash. Owner's manual should tell you its location.

Thanks for the reply.
I've checked the fuse designation diagram and it does state a 40 amp fuse, I thought it was too big, but even after replacing with a new one, it still does not work,there are fuses under the dash, drivers side and nearside in the boot, but none of these are for the wipers, and i dont know if the relay has blown or which one it is.

Put a test light at the wiper motor. Check for voltage. Don't work on the German cars myself, but with most any other car I know of there is a wire that gets power any time the key is on. Thats the park circuit. When you shut the wipers off it moves them to their start position. The other wires in it power the delay any the low/high circuits. They should be energized when the switch is in that particular spot. Many of these wiper motors ground through the body of the car, not through a ground wire, so ensuring a good ground is imperative. If you have the 12v there where it should be try jumping from the ground terminal of the battery to a clean unpainted area of the motor. If it starts working you've found the problem.
