I have a 2000 Mazda miata mr 6. a few months ago my wife called and said her car was acting funny and so she took it to our mechanic. He kept it for 2 months. It was having fuel problems. He changed everything on it that he thought would fix it. Now I never drove it at this time to feel what was wrong.After 2 months we went and got it to take it to a Mazda dealer for another opinion and to have it checked.They didnt help either they wanted to check what the first mechanic had checked. I drove it approximately 45 miles to the closest dealer and I saw nothing wrong except when you first gave it gas it choked back and hesitated like it wasnt getting gas right.Once you were going you did'nt feel anything wrong only when you first started off was when it heitated.So any ideas. Now my first mechanic has been around a long time and this is the first time he has run into this problem. he says he has put every part he know except some oxygen sensor manifold that could not be returned after once being used. What he appears to be doing is just throwing parts at it. As you have found out, nothing gets fixed that way and it gets real expensive. If the problem is present at all times, then it can be diagnosed by a knowledgable tech which your guy is not. The dealer could find the problem but don't expect them to take anyone's word on testing. No tech will do that. they will perform their own tests and if the problem is present and they know what they are doing, the problem will be found.
