Low oil pressure warning Citroen Berlingo Sign In

My display is telling me low oil pressure. I have just changed the oil filter and oil and now this warning is showing up. Everything was fine beforehand.

I have a 2009 Citroen Berlingo 1.6 HDI Diesel / 78600 km.

I was wondering if it was something I did or is there a reset I need to do.

Thanks Chris

! Did you do it? Correct grade of oil, oil properly filled + not leaking right out?

Low to NO oil pressure for whatever reason is total engine destruction and fast. If you think the warning has a chance of being wrong take a reading with a gauge on the engine for true reading but don't run this thing at all more than to test for the shortest time possible if it's true it serious trouble. Don't drive it at all till this is sure of what went wrong so fast and fixed,

With Tom here. I doubt your oil filter is capable of dumping all your pressure, but if you want to change to another to test do not use a cheap one. Get a factory filter. Should use that anyhow for longevity of this engine.

The oil filter sender is screwed into your block and you can adapt a master gauge into it to get a known good reading. It may just need a new sending unit, but not worth running the engine to a shop if it isn't. A $20 sensor could cost you a $3000 engine if it is leaking. Get a verified reading of pressure and look at the sending unit you take out. Any sign of leakage is junk. If it has an o-ring seal just lube the ring on install. If it is pipe thread you need to put pipe dope on it first.

Re: Low oil pressure warning Citroen Berlingo Sign In

Some common things that can go wrong with just an oil change:
* Wrong oil drained (trans for example) and engine refilled but wasn't really drained!
* Double gaskets if old filter gasket sticks to engine. Quick loss of oil but might wait a while to cause rapid oil loss.
* Drain plug issues, stripped, loose, gaskets even plug not re-installed!
* Maybe a plain wire to oil warning sender was close by and knocked off such that it sends wrong info?
* Totally wrong oil used?

Real low or no oil pressure should make wild knocking sounds with mere seconds to shut down engine before it can seize right up and beyond realistic repair! A must to know it's OK,

T
