Leaking coolant Sign In

In the last year two problems have come up with my Honda Civic 1999 Lx. First this winter the heat stopped working when I sit at lights. When I start driving the heat comes back on.

Secondly and recently I started having to add coolant to my radiator every two months. The leak seems to lead into the half an inch sized sponge separating the radiator from the front of the car. I am not sure if the radiator leaks or if it's a hose.

I would like to solve both these problems and I am wondering if these issues are related. If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would be very thankful.

Sounds like the radiator is leaking which will give you both problems. Verify that and replace the radiator is confirmed.

I'd say YES both issues are related - low coolant level sure can change how heater works.

Might be hard to really see it leak from exactly where. A pressure test could be the best bet or if slow enough need to remove items blocking view as possible, lower level on purpose and be ready and able to properly refill it, pressure it up with a pressure tester and spray soapy water just at suspect areas away from harming anything else,

It should still be confirmed but if the coolant is landing in the foam between the radiator and the condenser, it can't be coming from anywhere but the radiator.
