Just replaced Axle and Wheel Bearings and now this Sign In

Hello and thank you in advance for your help. We are at a loss.

My car was making a bad grind noise and eventually got to the point where you couldn't hardly keep it on the road at slow speeds. Luckly my hubby knew a back way home from work. He said he could barely keep it straight.

This past weekend we replaced the axle and wheel bearings on both sides of my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am (6 cy). Wheel bearings are already packed and sealed. Don't know if you need to know that or not.

On the passenger side the wheel bearings literally fell apart. The axle boot close to the wheel bearing was open and you could see the thingys inside. (I am so not a car person so please bear with me.) It was in a horrible state.

Another detail: We replaced a tire about two weeks ago

Well fast forward to today. When we make a right hand turn into a parking space it starts making that grinding noise again. Hubby said it almost sounds like the break rubbing. Its like there is something between the break and the big round piece (caliper or rooter, I dont know what the big piece is called). I told my husband thats a good theory but it sounds to me like it is making the same noise it did before the wheel bearings went bad.

I can't tell if the light grinding noise is going on when we are driving because the car does make a hum (to me more like a zooming noise). Hubby says the hum sounds like it is just the new tire.

Any suggestions on what might be causing the noise now?
