Just Grounded a 12v wire, Now Vue won't start Sign In

Hi All,

I just effed up...

My stereo died (bad spindle) so I pulled out an old aftermarket one and was splicing the new harness in.

I was all done with power, speakers, ect, and started putting everything in its place when I noticed an orange wire that said "auto antenna | Ground" so I grounded it. What I didn't see was the other side of the sticker said "auto antenna | Do Not."

Together "Do Not - Ground" - I used a multimeter to test the voltage which was 12v

So while I was in ignorance I turned the key to test the radio and heard a small pop.

Now the dashboard flickers when the key is on, and when I turn the car on it dies after a few seconds.

I obviously know what I did wrong.

I'd like to know if you have any ideas where the problem now lies, since I shorted ground I could have fried anything, but I'm suspecting the main computer.

How did you wire the replacement radio into the harness? What wire colors did you connect together on the radio harness to the replacement radio. Did you use some sort of harness adapter?

In the instrument panel fuse block check the radio(ign)10amp fuse and the radio fuse. There are two fuses for the radio.

The fuses are okay, and the wiring is okay, I had the radio on, and working correctly.

The issue is finding what I blew or burned when I messed up and grounded the Auto Antenna (12v) wire.

I still have yet to check all the fuses and wiring, to dark outside at the moment.

There is one orange wire in the vehicle's radio harness and it doesn't have anything to do with the antenna. The orange wire is fused battery to the radio and data link connector.

Usually an auto antenna or power antenna relay feed wire is blue on an aftermarket radio. Yours has a fixed antenna.

I would disconnect the battery. Disconnect the wiring and tape up the ends of the vehicle harness. Reconnect the battery and see if things are back to normal. There are some lighting circuits that come from the BCM and IPC that you could have wired into.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I'm very lucky. I found some light, checked the fuses with a multimeter and found 2 blown, first was the aux/cigarette lighter, and the main culprit was the BCM/CLSTR. Once I tested a good fuse in it, the dashboard, fuel injection, and everything else started working fine. Not sure what the BCM/CLSTR is - time to hit google.
