Hey everyone. Just created an account in the hopes of getting some advice, here. I was on my way home from work last night, and my oil light was on. Car acted fine otherwise. It got real cold this morning, first frost on the hood. Oil light was still on this morning. Halfway into my 40 minute drive to work today the engine started making an unusual clicking sound. My battery light comes on and my Jeep dies after the steering locks up. I was able to get it started and halfway onto the shoulder before it died again. I popped it into neutral and took it to the side, called a tow and here I am with an accidental day off. While it was dead on the shoulder a passerby lent me a hand with a jump but it didn't take. Didn't do anything more than click.
The battery's nearly dead but the electric locks and windows still work (slowly). Am I just looking at a cold weather battery change or might it be something more serious? The gentleman who tried to jump me said it might be my solenoid but didn't sound sure.

Year, model, and engine size?
I'm really surprised to read this. You drive the vehicle with the oil light on and you didn't know if it was actually having an oil pressure problem or not. Better hope it is a sender issue and not a locked up engine.

2003 liberty, sorry.
Yeah I definitely shouldn'tve been driving it in it's condition I'm sure, but it was my last day of work and I was just desperate to get there.
Shame that didn't work out.

First thing is to make sure there is oil in it and that the crankshaft can be rotated by hand two full turns. If that is good, have the battery charged and tested. Make sure the battery connections are clean and tight.
If you can get it to run, screw in a pressure gauge and verify it has oil pressure. While it is running and your measuring oil pressure, monitor the charging system voltage using a volt meter.

No offense sport but your user name and judgment are a good match for driving another 10 FEET with an oil light/warning on! You have all the symptoms of a seized engine and no surprise,

Well yeah the user name is because I really do know very little about cars. It's intentional. And I wouldn't have driven it in it's condition if I wasn't in a hurry to get to work on my last day to keep a reference. It was a Sh!tty situation and I made a poor decision. Thanks for the constructive comment =/
