ford Freestar van 2007, 6 cylinders., 3.9 engine., 142 k miles.
just got it from a dealer on 07/22/2016.
I tested for 3 hours the engine was working fine then park it at home , after 4 hours wanted to test the lights and the engine it didn't start.
next morning it starts at the first try.
the engine works ,but, after I turn it off for more than 2 hours ( I think) it won't start again for several hours, even if I try every other hour. so for about 15 hours it won't start and then it will start again at the first try and very smoothly. it's like cycle: start/ out for several hours and then start again .. it's this way every day
the dealer said they have to check when is not working.
The battery is fine (tested ). I tried moving the shift from P to N and nothing, no any click , just lights on the panel.
thanks for any help.

The dealer is right. If the problem isn't occurring, it is almost impossible to figure out what is wrong. Does this have any aftermarket equipment installed such as remote starter or aftermarket alarm system?

Is the anti theft indicator flashing when it doesn't crank?

no, it doesn't have any remote starter.
yes , it has the little flashing light on it when I'm trying to make work.
today I tried several times and it didn't start at all, not one single time.

If you have a flashing security light, then you have an issue with the immobilizer system. First try a different key if you have one. If that doesn't work you will need a very high end scan tool to access the system.

I already tried with another key and it didn't work.
since yesterday ( I believe ) the flashing light has been on all the time , so , you think that might be the reason why the engine is not turning on for about 38 hours now ?
I live in Houston Tx and I'm thinking how much money will cost just to fix this flashing light/ the alarm problem and if this will let me start the van any time I want.
BTW: thanks for the help , I really appreciated

The dealer or independent will probably need to use their scanner to see if there are any PATS related trouble codes stored. That will give them direction in finding the fault.

the van just started very nicely 10 minutes ago , and I'm going to the dealer right away. the flashing is on all the time and there is a noise behind the panel, sounds like a scanning machine going from one side to the other side. thanks
