Last car shop offered best deal but still can't afford to pay his amount. I asked if I were to buy a catalytic converter on my own would he install it & he said yes. I realize I don't have the option to drive the car indefinitely as this would create a larger problem. Which is the lesser evil, buying a lower online priced catalytic converter or buying a rebuilt OEM catalytic converter? Last mechanic said he'd charge $150 for labor. Before he said lowest he could go is $590 total (if he bought the cat. con.). I'm determined to get this cheaper, I just need feedback on this. A car is NOT a "right" but rather a privilege. If you can't stand the heat get out. If you want you can pay 10% of what tools cost me and you'd be broke! PO421 is not a legit code.
