In an effort to replace some old gas in my 04 Taurus I disconnected the main fuel line and pumped the fuel out of the tank by hard wiring a circut in the fuel pump junction box in the trunk. I was surprised that the gas being pumped was not more than it was. I was expecting a rather large flow but the flow was only the size of about a pencil point or a bit more. Is this normal, a tech says my pressure is about 60 lbs which is normal according to his meter.

The pressure spec is 35 to 70 PSI so it doesn't look like you have a problem. It will pump a lot of fuel with those pressures.

Generally speaking a fuel pump in good working order should pump a quart of fuel in no more than 70 seconds. Do a pump volume test and post the results.

At 60 PSI, if it's fuel and not air being pumped out, you will pump a quart in a matter of seconds.

This car uses an electronically controlled, Pulse Width Modulated variable speed pump. The controller dictates the pressure so a volume test won't mean much.
