I took my Subaru 2001 to a local auto shop last Monday for a head gasket leak problem, also, I had a problem with going at high speeds, and with taking turns slowly. They got the first two problems solved my thursday..and are still working on the last. The fixed the steering rack, and now want to try the line and the pump. How long should have this taken? They promised me it would be done tonight by 5pm, but no phone call yet. Should I call them? I want them to do a good job, but this is getting irrating. I have no other mode of transportation and have promises to fulfill by Thursday.

I'm sure you are not the only car the shop has to repair. They have to repair other vehicles while coordinating the aquisition of the parts they need. Your car needs to be repaired and your commitments aren't going to change any of that so just deal with it and let them do their job.
