Help with trailer tire! Sign In

I have an old fishing boat sitting on my driveway on a trailer I've been meaning to get working again. Has been sitting there for a few years. Both tires on the trailer have been flat since the boat and trailer have been there. I finally got around to trying to move the trailer to the back of my property and tried airing up the tires but can't for the life of me get the bead on the tire to seal. Trying to get the old tires off so I can get newer tires on. I have tried the ratchet strap method and have gotten the tire to come close to the rim but they don't air up and seal. I even today tried the starter fluid method and even tried it with the ratchet strap on but all it does is just start a fire. The tire doesn't blow up to seat the bead. Need to figure out how I can just get the rim off to put newer tires on. Please help! Thanks in advance!

They make an air tank designed for seating a tough bead like that. You will need a high volume/pressure air supply, the valve core removed from the valves in combination with an air blast from the seating tank.

mullimat: Love those air cans just another thought on ancient trailer in woods or strong maybe. Try if you can to a regular cheap trailer as far as you know take a wheel off or a hole hub, bearings and all off to match it up with new whole dang thing - hub, bearings, wheel with a tire on it can be had not very much! Do learn to set a bearing's tension and fuss with an old wheel for a spare if any good at all.
If to keep this thing and use it cover the tires sunlight alone will ruin tires expect them to crack and be junk no matter what you do along with lights whole sets wires and all cost dirt just your time if all lousy and you still want the thing,
