Sign In Can someone help me identify what this gauge would be used to measure? It reads cm hg and in hg. Sign In It appears like a version of "Venturi" effect automotive vacuum pump mostly for cooling system refills. Those are "automotive" type compressed air fittings vs for other uses like a nail gun/carpentry. I don't know what the fitting is for on the clear hose at the bottom yet. The rest looks to adapt to sizes of radiator or tank necks and the rubber would get thicker turning that wing nut thing except to pick up coolant for a refill without air. Personally wouldn't own a Venturi vacuum device at all and choose an electric powered one. That might be missing a couple fittings? I just searched eBay for a cooling system gauge and spotted the same set. I have been trying to find out what it was for ages! Thanks Tom! Sign In Reason: Filling many cooling systems is near impossible without tricks or tools. Shops just can't spend all day fussing to know one is really filled so these and versions are the answer. The DIYer without understanding the need can really get in disastrous trouble if you can't be certain cooling systems are properly full after ordinary services or a repair. Trouble with the "Venturi" air pressure creating a vacuum and does it most folks wouldn't have a compressor with enough CFM = Cubic Feet/Minute compressors to use that type so hand pumps or other types better for that just FYI, Tom Hammer Time Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator Jan 15, 2017, 2:16 PM Post #5 of 5 (1123 views) Re: Help identifying this tool please? Sign In Yes, it's a vacuum fill tool for filling cooling systems and getting all the air out. It puts the cooling system under vacuum and then draws the coolant in.
