Help! Stranded in canada, with minimal car repair experience Sign In

Year of vehicle - 2005
Make of vehicle - Ford
Model of vehicle - Escape
Engine size - 3.0 six cylinder
Mileage - 50,000ish

Trying to make the story as short as possible while including pertinant info:
Driving down the road at about 75mph, tried to pass the car in front and floored it, car momentarily flips off and turns back on with all dummy lights on and "startup beep", car can no longer go as fast and runs at very high rpm as if we are going up a hill all the time, not enough power, make it to a city and get the codes checked which revealed that 3 of the 6 spark coils stopped working. replaced the spark coils, still same issue, tested new spark coils on known working spots and they test good. replaced all spark plugs just to be sure. replaced ECU, I know that sometimes they need to be reprogrammed for the car to run, triet starting car and sure enough the car didnt start. Put the old ECU back in and tried to start the car and NO START... Can something happen when you take the ECU out and put it back in, anti theft maybe? batery works fine, we get power to the internal components but the engine will not start, or click, nothing... Any help in the matter is appreciated, sleeping in a walmart parking lot in another country is no fun :P
THANKS!

Maybe you should have it towed to a repair shop. Someone with experience and the tooling is going to have to diagnose your problem.

Why did you change the PCM out? What tests did you do to confirm you had a bad PCM?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
