Help!
My 1999 Dodge 1500 2WD 5.2 FI engine with 85,000 miles is flooded with fuel after sitting overnight and requires cranking for six to eight minutes while the engine hydraulics and kicks back against the starter. Runs fine when parked. It will eventually start but sometimes requires the battery charger to assist. This has just started within the last week or so and has gotten worse every day. Outside temps are around 75 degrees average. I have not checked the fuel pressures due to not owning the test set required as of yet. I get around under the hood pretty good but have very limited knowledge of electronic fuel injection systems. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. ECM fault code says "intermittant engine misfire on cylinders 3, 6, and 8". Check engine light has come on during passing of vehicles on the freeway but goes right back out when throttle and speed are steady since this has started. This vehicle has been well maintained. Fuel injection cleaners have been added to full tanks regularly. I am very careful not to buy gas at older, rundown or unkempt gas staions for fear of getting water or trash in the tank. Air filter is changed every 4,000 miles. There is no engine misfire while power braking the engine or while in neutral or park.

With the problem you are having, you are probably going to want to take a fuel pressure reading and see if it's dropping. Sounds like you have a leaky injector.

On thing you could try before buying a gauge would be to bleed off the fuel pressure from the schrader valve on the fuel rail to see if that helps it start in the morning.
