User Sep 5, 2010, 12:37 PM Post #1 of 3 (1372 views) Getting Fan Clutch off w/out "special tool" Sign In Hello eveyone... it's been a while ... I'm trying to change the water pump. The prob that I am having is getting the fan clutch off of a 97 Chevy Blazer 4.3 liter V6. I need to know how to remove it without the special tool. I tried Autozone and they never have anything... The tool that I did rent from them is not even for Chevy's it's for Fords... What to do? All help and suggestions are appreciated!!!!! I usually use an air hammer with a blank driver, just a couple of raps in the right direction will usually loosen them. I suppose if you had a long enough bar where you could get a good swing with a hammer (without hitting anything else) would work. Leave the belt on for the moment. Find the longest chisel you can and a heavy hammer. Position the chisel along the left edge of the nut and hit it sharply with the hammer. The nut will break free rather easily and then spin right off.
