A couple of weeks ago my check engine light came on, I took it to a local mechanic and they said the pcv elbow needed replaced. Had it replaced and the car has been running great, starts up great no problems. The main issue is the excessive rattling/vibration that it unleashes when I am stopped at a red light. When the weather is hot (its horrible in the summer, its usually around 95-101 every day) the car only has a very very light vibration, no big deal. But when the weather starts to cool off that's when I seem to notice it...

I will crank up the car in the morning (nights and mornings have been in the 40's) and the idle will be around 1,000-1,200. As the car warms up the rpm's will of course drop to around 700-850 and once it's warmed up and I apply the breaks the car has a very strong vibration, if I put the car in neutral or park the vibration almost dissapears instantly. It only seems to be happening on cold mornings when the car is in Drive or Reverse and when the car has warmed up (lower rpm's than the initial 1,000-1,200 on startup)

When I leave work the temp is usually around 70-85 degrees and the vibration is no where to be found when I put on the brakes etc. I know the zx2's are notorious for vibrating and I was going to see if someone could explain the problem to me. Could it be the engine mounts causing the vibration due to the weather being cold? If it's the engine mounts is that anything to be concerned with other than the annoyance of the vibration when the car has been sitting in the cool weather for a while? Thanks

The mounts did come to mind.

Get a floor jack with a piece of wood on it and jack up the engine slightly (just enough to support the weight) while it's running and in gear. If the vibration goes away, you have a motor mount issue.
The mileage is a little low for this type of problem but it only takes a few minute to eliminate this as a possible cause.

pffsh its still a Ford despite the milage thats the problem right there...
