Engine runs hot after sitting off for short while Sign In

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the cooling system. My temperature gauge reads hot if i let the car sit, (after driving for some time), turned of for roughly 10-20 minutes. After I start driving, the temperature goes down to almost the normal operating mark. I just filled the coolant yesterday, and bled all the air out. What could be a possible cause for this problem. Thanks in advance.

Are the electric fans working?

That is called heat soaking. When you shut the engine off there is no longer coolant circulation. The coolant in the block is still soaking up the heat from the heads and block. Coolant temperature is going to rise. If you start your vehicle after letting it sit for that time, the gauge reading will be higher until the heat is transferred out the radiator.
