Engine miss fire	Sign In

2005 chevy trailblazer 4.2 inline 6. Car is sputtering. Check engine light came on. A friend plug computer in and it said a miss fire. Cranked it back up and ran fine. A week later, started sputtering again. I changed spark plugs and still sputtering. Later on that evening, I cranked up and ran fine and check engine light went off. Ran good all week. Cranked up this afternoon and back to sputtering. Any ideas?

What was the trouble code number?

Don't know. We were out of town over Christmas and it was my fiancée neighbor who owns shop. About 7 ours away. We drove it back with out any trouble. All I know is that he said it was a miss fire. It's got 120,000 miles and never had plugs replaced.

If it is a misfire and the computer picks up on it, it should set either a P0300 code or one of the other cylinder specific misfire codes (P0301-P0306). Would be important to know which trouble code number is popping up to help narrow down the problem if possible.
