Hi i have a ford focus 2001 when i am idle and i hold the revs just above 2 the engine bellows as if there is a very slight missfire the other day the engine light came on so I took it to a garage they plugged computer into it to find a p1709 code it says something like catalyst efficiency under threshold bank 1 they asked if I had been using different petrol in it cleaned a spark plug put the light out and said if it comes back on bring it back does anyone know what the cause of this is

That's not at all what that codes means.

It mean Park/Neutral switch out of self test range. Probably something to do with how the test was performed.
