Electrical issues Sign In

Occasioanlly my car won't start. Like when I turn the key nothing happens. I then jiggle the battery and it starts. Recently, while driving i have heard what sounds like electrical pops. They seem to come from the speakers but not sure. Thoughts?

Year, make, model and in this case how old is the battery by markings on it?
So I guess it's happening all over this place battery and or cables just no good. IMO if over 3-4 years a common battery should just go for known new and cables cleaned and treated helps a lot - almost anything with electric start,

Its a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. I bought it use on a buy here pay here several months ago. My first thought was the battery cables and it doesn't happen every time. I don't really know the age of the battery. I didnt think to look for that. I will check it shortly.

OK - bought used so unknown info unless YOU look. Battery is marked and "embossed" with a date or in code can find out almost anything about it - age is a known they can't last new or unused all are wet filled and sealed.
Your complaint is just what happens. Intermittent or can just totally die out without explanation the other is predictable loss or its original capability.
Since used probably all cleaned up can look new and be old. Really it's perishable if pushed too long you risk a host of problems. Popular complaint now because it's Summer and they hate heat more than hate cold? Odd but true. As per first reply check it and the larger wire cables both ends of each best at least grease over exposed ends it wont be the problem another time,
