Disconnecting a sensor Sign In

Hi all, I'm dealing with a very simple and frustrating problem, and I'm hoping someone can lend me a hand. I'm trying to replace the output speed sensor on my 2001 Hyundai Elantra, and I can't get the harness plug disconnected.
I keep getting a 0720 error code, which is highlighting an issue with the output speed sensor - and on the 2001 Hyundai Elantra this sensor is located on the top of the transmission case, almost directly below the air filter.
I've removed the air filter to get access to it, but I'm still at an awkward angle to disconnect the sensor. I've never had to disconnect this type of connector before, and I can't seem to be able to disengage the clip on it.
There is a little slot on the top which seems like an ideal place to shove a flathead screwdriver into, but it doesn't seem to work. Keeping in mind that I am at a weird angle and it's really tough to shove a screwdriver in, and pull on the plug at the same time.
If someone that has experience with these types of plugs, if you can simply let me know if I should keep trying with the flathead screwdriver, or even if I should be coming at the slot from the harness side toward the sensor, or from the sensor side toward the harness, I'd really appreciate any input. Is there something that would be better than a flathead screwdriver?
Kind Regards,
Tom

Re: Disconnecting a sensor Sign In

If you notice, there are two 'notches' at either end of the connector. Both have to be pried outwards, at the same time, for the connector to release. Yes, can be a bugger. <sigh>
