I would like to deactivate the front passenger seat airbag so I can have my newborn in the car seat next to me in the front. I have looked online and newer models have a switch somewhere near the dashboard, on the door of the passenger seat or apparently sometimes by the gearstick – I don’t think mine does. I tried to speak to a Honda dealership and was told they would not be able to help with this query and suggested I look at an on-line manual. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to deactivate the airbag and if so (ie if I have to disconnect the wires) whether this is permanent or not? For legality purposes and safety, we can't give you information on how to disable any type of safety item including the air bag system. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved. I have misplaced my manual and didn't find an online manual so not sure if that applies to my year of honda but will have to assume it does, as there is no obvious switch on my car. It is illegal to disable a front air bag and pretty foolish besides.
