I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee, V8, 160,000 miles. Since I bought it, in order to use the cruise control I had to push the button on the steering wheel several times in order for it turn on. Once it was on, it worked fine. Recently it stopped turning on at all. My mechanic said it had power to the unit from below the clock spring. First he replaced the on / off switch on the steering wheel. It still would not turn on. Then he replaced the clock spring. It still will not operate. Now he is saying the computer may be the problem, but he really doesn't believe it is because everything else works perfectly. What can it be....help.
